PAK'nSAVE vs New World price comparison
Compare recent Shoparound price observations for identical products represented at both PAK'nSAVE and New World. Because both retailers can price by store, the analysis uses each chain's median recorded store price for every product.

Methodology
How this comparison is calculated
- 1
Match the same product record
A product must be represented at both retailers under the same Shoparound record. Products are generally joined through retailer identifiers and barcode-based catalogue matching. Similar substitutes and private-label equivalents are not treated as identical.
- 2
Keep current, available observations
For each retailer and store, Shoparound takes the latest recorded row only when it was marked available and checked within the past 14 days.
- 3
Calculate an effective item price
The regular recorded price is used unless the row has a valid special price and quantity threshold. Multi-buy totals are divided by the threshold to give a per-item comparison. Loyalty eligibility is not inferred.
- 4
Compare retailer medians product by product
The median store price is calculated separately for each retailer. This stops a retailer represented by more stores from automatically carrying more weight. A tie means the medians match to the nearest cent.
