When our mate Kengo from Yellow Monkey Brewing in Japan came over for Beervana, he dropped by the Miramar taproom for a pint and ended up sharing a masterclass in brewing with rice. Prime Mates is the result of that afternoon of shared knowledge. Kengo even sent over a special stash of genuine Japanese Sansho to seal the deal. It is a true meeting of minds, built on friendship, fresh ideas, and ingredients that push the boundaries. Flavours: A lean, crisp base of pilsner malt and dextrine malt is fermented clean with Froth Vagabond Czech Pilsner yeast. Rice syrup added during fermentation dries the beer out completely, leaving a light, nutty, honey-like finish. A massive addition of straight, fresh Yuzu juice brings vibrant, zesty citrus, while lime-forward Motueka hops marry the flavours together. The addition of Sansho layers in a mild, citrusy spice with a subtle, playful numbing sensation on the finish.
